That's how it should be. The older your domain, the better your host, the authority of your domain, the faster your blog, the lesser the technical errors like server connectivity error, and the quality of your posts dictate how often Google will crawl your blog. Although you can set the rate in the console panel, I as well as Google advise you leave it as it is. You just submitted your sitemap, allow Google to crawl all the old posts before crawling the latter.
Also, you should note this, even if Google crawl your blog post instantly today, tomorrow, doesn't mean it will crawl them immediately a day after. My point is that Google dictates how, when and how often to crawl your blog posts. So keep posting unique contents and allow Google's bot do its work.
